Does your dog or cat have arthritis or joint pain? Do they have problems getting up or don’t move quite as well as they used to? If your dog is still young and active, would you like to know how to give them more active days as they grow older?

Joint problems and osteoarthritis in pets are incredibly common, with about 14 million dogs affected in the US. For cats, 90% over the age of 12 show signs of osteoarthritis on x-rays.

Even if your dog is young and active, proper joint support is critical to keeping them active throughout their lives and into their senior years. As I learned with my dog, Buck, joint support is incredibly important at a young age and can help ward off early signs of arthritis.

Here at Pet Living, our cat and dog moms tried ActivPhy’s Hip & Joint Mobility Collar for their pets. Here’s what happened.

But first, let’s talk joint pain.

What Does Joint Pain Look Like?

Many pets are very good at hiding their pain, so it’s important to be on the lookout for tell-tale signs of arthritis and joint pain. They include:

  • Stiffness upon rising
  • Limping
  • Not wanting to jump or play
  • Flinching when touched
  • Isolating themselves
  • Avoiding going up or down stairs
  • Not grooming themselves well

If you see these signs, speak with your veterinarian. Your pet may be suffering from canine or feline osteoarthritis.

An OA diagnosis doesn’t mean your dog or cat will be extremely limited. In fact, you can help them live a happy and active life well in their later years if they’re getting the proper joint support, especially when you start joint support early with the right nutrients.

Most often, these nutrients come in the form of pills or powders. Unfortunately, many dogs and cats balk at taking a supplement or medicine in any form. But there are other other alternatives.

What Is ActivPhy’s Mobility Collar? How Does It Work?

ActivPhy’s Hip & Joint Mobility Collar is a pill-free way to give your dog or cat 24/7 joint support. The collar uses patented Micro Transdermal Technology to deliver its joint-supporting ingredients around the clock. According to their website, it “slowly releases carefully selected oils that carry the supportive ingredients through your cat’s hair, hair follicles, and skin.”

The collar contains glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, MSM, curcumin, willow bark, and bromelain to help relieve your pet’s joint stiffness and discomfort.

Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate both support your pet’s joints by helping maintain cartilage, connective tissue, and joint lubrication. MSM and curcumin (found in turmeric) are natural anti-inflammatories. Willow bark has been used for hundreds of years to relieve pain and discomfort. And bromelain (derived from the pineapple plant) has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties that may reduce the pain, stiffness, and swelling of osteoarthritis.

It also lasts for 30 days, so you don’t have to worry about those daily pills anymore.

We Tried ActivPhy Hip & Joint Mobility Collar and This Is What Happened

Three members of the Pet Living Family – Pamela, Adia, and myself (Kristen) – tried the ActivPhy Hip & Joint Mobility Collar for our dogs and cats.

My Experience With ActivPhy

I’ve written a lot about my dog, Buck, and his experience with hip dysplasia.

I wish I had known back then how important it is to provide joint support for dogs while they’re growing puppies and active adults – not just when they’re older. That’s because growth rate and breed play a huge part in a puppy’s risk of joint problems later in life. When a puppy grows too big too quickly, they are at risk of joint damage that can lead to problems like arthritis and hip dysplasia.

We adopted our current dog, Tulip, as a puppy, during the early stages of the pandemic, and she’s brought us so much love and laughter since then!

One thing we laugh regularly about is how she can go from being a couch potato to an Olympic sprinter when we play ball with her outside. She is completely obsessed with her green squeaky tennis ball and her skinny, long legs propel her like a cannon when she’s chasing it up and down the mountain where we live.

Knowing her joint health is important even at a young age, I try to make sure we warm up with a long walk before we play ball, as I don’t want her to harm her joints or muscles when she’s playing hard.

I meet a lot of interesting folks working in the pet industry, and I learn about a lot of new products and treatments, sometimes even before they hit stores. So when I met the folks at ActivPhy, I was really intrigued because their joint supplement was unlike any other supplement I’d heard of.

They have a traditional (and tasty, according to Tulip) joint supplement chew, but it’s unique and patented. While it does contain common joint supplement ingredients like glucosamine, MSM, and omega-3s, it also contains a secret ingredient: blue-green algae extract. This unique ingredient has been clinically proven to help reduce discomfort from normal daily activities while also providing beneficial antioxidants.

In short, this chew has essential ingredients that support joint health and muscle strength PLUS antioxidant and inflammatory support that work together to provide more active days for your active dog and ease the effects of growing older.

What we love about this supplement:

  • It improves joint health in just 30 days.
  • A clinical study showed significant owner-perceived improvement in mobility, playfulness, ability to rise, and enthusiasm to go outside after one month of taking ActivPhy.
  • 80% of the dogs experienced benefits within 30 days.
  • Dogs under 60 lbs only need 1/2 a chew after the first 4-6 weeks.
  • The chews are tasty and can serve as a “treat”.
The ActivPhy Hip and Joint Mobility Collar gives joint support to young dogs to help prevent arthritis later in life

What really caught my attention was their Hip and Joint collar! Yes, it’s a collar that provides joint support and reduces inflammation. As I mentioned above, ActivPhy’s collar slowly and constantly releases its active ingredients through patented Micro Transdermal Technology.

That means your dog or cat is getting the joint support they need around the clock for a whole month without you having to do anything.

I love this collar because:

  • I don’t have to remember to give my dog the chew every day.
  • I don’t give her extra calories via that supplement each day (we are working on getting her weight down so every nibble counts).
  • The unique combination of ingredients supports joint and muscle health and reduces inflammation.
  • It provides 24/7 joint support.
  • One collar delivers joint support for 30 days.

If you compare the chews to the collar, the collar is a bit more expensive. But it’s more convenient, which is worth the minor price difference to me.

Tulip has been wearing her ActivPhy collar for about 10 days now. I feel great because I’m finally doing something proactive about maintaining her joint and mobility health. I want her to be racing up and down the mountain after that green squeaky tennis ball as she grows into an adorable senior girl.

My sister is also using ActivPhy collars for her uber-active dog, Grizzly, as well as her other dog, Cola, who’s been starting to slow down. She loves how easy it is to give them both the joint support they need to keep living active, healthy lives.

Adia’s Experience With ActivPhy

Adia has two cats: Padme (16 years old) and Cairo (14 years old). She tried ActivPhy’s collar on both of them and noticed positive improvements in both.

Padme has arthritis, which makes her move slowly and painfully. However, she is often reluctant to take her oral medication. That makes the ActivPhy Hip & Joint Mobility Collar a great option for her.

Padme saw many benefits to her arthritis by using the ActivPhy collar

“Since wearing the Activphy collar,” Adia said, “I’ve noticed that she takes less time to get up and down. She seems much more like her younger self.”

Cairo also saw improvement. Adia related, “While he doesn’t suffer from arthritis or joint issues, he is an older cat and is not as active as he used to be. Since wearing the Activphy collar, I’ve witnessed him jump onto his tall cat tree, ledges… and even me!”

Cairo also saw improvement from the ActivPhy collar

Pamela’s Experience With ActivPhy

Pamela’s dog, Zuzu, has genetically weak joints. At one year old, she already had surgery on her knees for luxated patellas.

“We’re very conscious of how to keep her joints healthy,” Pamela said. “She’s still young, so now’s the time to think about supplements and joint health.”

Zuzu is a very fussy eater, so Pamela found the idea of using a simple collar very appealing. “I also love that the ingredients are natural. The price point is about what most joint supplements are, if not a little bit less.”

“Time will tell how this does on her joints, but I’m excited that this is so easy to use!”

Pamela loved how easy the ActivPhy collar was to use

What Are the Cons of ActivPhy?

Pamela, quoted earlier, did note one minor drawback. “The smell of the herbs on the collar is actually quite strong, but it does dissipate after a few days.”

The collar is also meant to be left on 24/7. That means once the pieces are locked together, it’s not easy to adjust or pull it apart. If you’re planning on removing it regularly, that may cause difficulties. (The cat’s collar does include breakaway safety, as recommended for cat collars.)

The Final Woof

Paws down, we loved ActivPhy and its safe, convenient joint support. It’s natural, easy to use, and (best of all) it’s effective.

Whether you want to provide joint support to an aging or arthritic pet or be proactive in preventing future joint problems in a younger pet, ActivPhy may be just the simple solution you need.
