We’ve all heard the phrase, “Content is king.” And with good reason! Creating useful, original content on a regular basis is one of the most effective things you can do to build brand recognition, reach new audiences, and increase sales. In fact, research has found that B2C businesses that blog get 88% more leads than small businesses that don’t!
If your brand is already on the content marketing bandwagon, congrats! You’re ahead of the game. And here’s the good news about all that content you’ve created: It can be repurposed and leveraged in new ways to boost your sales throughout the holiday season.
Repurposing content can help with your SEO by getting the attention of search engines and providing quality links back to your site if it’s shared. And of course, the more it’s shared, the more likely new customers will hear about it.
Below are some ideas to repurpose your existing content for a more merry holiday. Once you’ve done the work, be sure to share on your website, with your email list, and on social media platforms.
1. Make a Video
Consumers love watching videos online, both for entertainment and to make purchasing decisions. Surveys have shown that marketers who use video grow revenue 49% faster than those who don’t.
You can take advantage of this popular medium by repurposing your most successful content into a short video. The topic can be anything from an informational blog post, to fun facts about dogs, to instructions on how to use your product. Tying it in with the season can also make it more relevant and interesting to consumers.
2. Draw Up Some Visuals
Did you know that 93% of all communication is nonverbal, according to psychologist Albert Mehrabian? Pictures and other graphics have been shown to increase retention, enhance emotions, and attract attention. In other words (pun intended), we are a very visual species.
Do you have existing content that could be translated into something more visual? For example, numbered lists are great for turning into infographics. Memes (with cute pics of pets) can be created from quotes, statistics, or testimonials. In addition to Facebook and Twitter, don’t forget to share on Instagram and Pinterest, too!
3. Break It Down, Build It Up
Has your business created guides, e-books, or longer blog posts for either the B2B or B2C market? If so, breaking them down into bite-sized chunks gives you more content to share and potentially helps you reach new audiences. This new content can take the form of blog posts, newsletters, videos, infographics, memes, tweets, and more.
The reverse is also true. If you have several shorter posts on the same topic, you can combine the info into one longer post, guide, or e-book.
4. Work with Bloggers and Influencers
If you want a fresh take on old content, hand it over to an influencer or blogger. Often, they’ll have great ideas for repurposing your message in a way that will resonate strongly with their audience. This might take the form of a sponsored blog post, social media mentions, a product giveaway program…or all three!
Plus, by partnering with a blogger or influencer, you’ll get instant credibility, more buzz about your brand, and coveted holiday exposure for your product across multiple channels.
