Mobility Solutions for Older or Active Pets

If you’ve noticed your dog slowing down, limping or hesitating to jump on the couch, he could be experiencing joint pain…even if he’s young and active. That’s right. Limited mobility isn’t just reserved for aging pups. Dogs that participate in agility or sporting events, or are just really playful, can develop conditions that cause pain and inflammation.

Because of this, more and more pet parents are looking for solutions to make their canine companions more comfortable. Pet retailers report that sales of hip and joint supplements are on the rise.

In addition to supplements, there are some other great and natural ways to keep your pet comfortable and active, no matter his age. Take a look at some of my favorites below, demonstrated today on Daytime, with the help of my three furbulous models – Daisy, Heidi and Dakota!

Back on Track

All-natural Back On Track products work by simply reflecting the animal’s own body warmth back into the tissues to stimulate blood flow. This is accomplished through ceramic particles that are fused into Back on Track’s Welltex fabric during manufacturing.

Recommended by veterinarians, Back on Track products alleviate stiff, sore muscles, allow injuries to heal more quickly, and relieve pain and inflammation. They can also be used to help hard-working competition dogs avoid injury by keeping their muscles loose and supple, both before and after events.

This thermographic image shows how effective the technology is for increasing circulation. Dogs are noticeably more comfortable and agile after wearing the product.

Help ‘Em Up Harness

If your dog has hip dysplasia, muscle loss, or is recovering from surgery, he may have impaired mobility and a lack of strength for everyday functions. Just getting up off the floor, up and down the stairs, or in and out of cars becomes more challenging for both your dog and for you!

That’s why vets and rehab therapists recommend the Help ‘Em Up™ Harness for post-surgery patients, aging dogs or those who need rehab. The comfortable, full body mobility harness serves as a lifting device that helps them rehabilitate more quickly and with less stress. In addition, by using the handles to lift your dog, you’ll alleviate stress on your body as well.

Prices range from $75 to $120 based on the size of the harness. Purchase at, and check out some great videos there as well.

Remember, not every dog will display clear signs that they’re in pain, so pay close attention to any changes in your dog’s behavior. They often hide discomfort so it’s our responsibility to recognize any issues and provide a solution.
